Making a difference

This year, our Girls for Girls committee raised $40,000 to benefit New Reach of New Haven to support their mission of providing emergency housing services to women and children.

Our 2023 Girls for Girls project raised $40,000 to benefit New Reach New Haven, which provides emergency housing services to women and children.

The Limelite Project, “Girls for Girls” is a fashion-dance soiree and will be an annual fundraising event that the Limelite Dance Team high-school students will organize, and hand down through generations to future Limelite high-school students. Limelite Dance Studio has always advocated for self love and confidence and we believe we now have the platform to extend our influence for girl empowerment to the community. Our overall goal for the fashion show is to include and encourage ALL girls, grades six through high school, particularly the ones that need that extra boost in their confidence.

We, the eleven high school organizers, will be spending many hours with these girls choreographing fun, runway routines and creating new friendships, while working up to our main goal of building self-confidence. These models will not only feel amazing about themselves, but they also get the satisfaction of giving back to the community.

This idea was inspired by our beautiful dance team girls and their wonderful families. These girls are very talented performers, they perform for the community, are regulars at Mohegan Sun Arena, and have been featured performers in Disney World. Deep down there is so much more than that, they are a mentoring program designed to inspire generation after generation of dancers. I knew they could take this great influence outside of the dance studio. By nominating peers from outside the studio they were able to spread their influence wider and make others feel this inclusive experience.

We are proud to have celebrated each other’s inner beauty, while raising $40,000 for New Reach New Haven, to support their mission to provide emergency housing services to women and children.
